Quad City Manufacturing Lab
The Quad City Manufacturing Lab (QCML) will develop and implement technological innovations, improve manufacturing processes, and further conduct research, development, manufacturing and innovative leadership training.
The QCML brings to the Quad-City area of Illinois/Iowa, manufacturing and engineering expertise of Western Illinois University, Northern Illinois University, Blackhawk College and Eastern Iowa Community College. Along with these organizations, engineers and technicians from area companies develop, educate, and implement new manufacturing systems, procedures and technologies.
The Quad City Manufacturing Lab is located in the Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center at the Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, IL. The Lab is a multi-use facility specifically designed to assist manufacturers in a variety of ways.
Small and mid-size manufacturers will use the lab to augment their manufacturing capability. Entreprenuers will use the lab to develop manufacturing ideas. Manufacturers will use the lab as a resource for problem solving and development in conjunction with partner universities. Additionally, the lab will be a conduit for training qualifed technicians in manufacturing skills through apprenticeship programs coordinated through area community colleges and high school programs.
The lab will be a center of excellence for research, development and training in titanium, lightweight composites and other advanced materials.
